Traveling Back In Time

A few weeks ago we made the trek to visit Tyler. As we took exit 54 off of I-65 we noticed a small sign for The Warehouse Market and it piqued our interest. So we decided to visit before we left the area. It was a neat little market and bakery and its kinda in the middle of nowhere. At this exit there is a truck stop and Dollar General.

So we headed on to Mobile and spent the weekend visiting various antique stores. We started by meeting Tyler in Fairhope. We visited an antique store, walked down the streets of the town and had lunch at Locals.

We ventured on down the street while keeping a eye on the dark clouds that were moving in. We did end up getting caught in a downpour and we took refuge in the local record store along with a few other people.

We heard about this place over in Theodore so we went over to check it out before they closed. It was like driving up in someone’s driveway. There were lot of different sheds with different things in them. There were antiques, doors, furniture, odds and ends. There were headboards made out of pieces of fences, doors, etc. This place is open weekends and they only take cash or check no credit cards.

Saturday night we went to a local restaurant to watch the Alabama football game. Sunday we went to church and then to The Cheese Cottage and to the first weekend antique sale at Olde Mobile Antiques.IMG_9034

It always breaks my heart to see old pictures at antique sales. These are someone’s family.

On Monday we went to lunch at the Flipped Out Kitchen. This was our 2nd time here. We have enjoyed. It’s a build your own pasta place.

This was a rainy weekend. On the way home we ran into traffic around Evergreen. It was Labor Day weekend and everyone was headed home at the same time. By the time we got to Montgomery it was raining SO HARD!! Between the rain and traffic it was a long ride home.

We checked traffic on up I-65 and found that traffic was backed up in different places all the way to Birmingham. So we opted to take the scenic route. We got to see some pretty places when we take off on these side trips. We said that we really need to pull out a map and see if we can mark off some of these small towns that we’ve been thru. I guess I get this “long cuts” from my Dad.

There are some beautiful places in Alabama.
