My birthday happened during COVID-19. Restaurants had reopened to limited capacity, but the government was still requiring social distancing. So we again opted for an outdoor activity.
For my birthday (which was on one of the triple digit heat days) we decided to go to Huntsville to visit their Botanical Garden’s. We made the 2 hour trip north on I-65.
They had some beautiful flowers. They have an awesome butterfly habitat. The gardens are just beautiful. So we took our time looking and photographing the flowers, bees and butterflies, and all the while pouring sweat.
When we finished we went searching for a restaurant offering indoor seating and a/c. We went to the Bridgestreet Town Center and made our decision between the 2 choices that sounded the best by choosing which one was closest to where we were. We ate at Connor’s Steak and Seafood.
After lunch we did a little shopping at Bridgestreet. We ended up buying one thing, a Trash Panda’s shirt for our son. The Trash Panda’s are a minor league baseball team that recently relocated to Huntsville from Mobile. In Mobile they were the Mobile Bay Bears. They let fans vote on their new name and they ended up being the Trash Panda’s.
They did not get to have their inaugural season because of the pandemic shutdown. We passed their stadium on our way into Hunstville and it looks really nice. I know they’ll be glad to play in their new stadium soon.
This was an enjoyable birthday spent by getting outside even though it was a triple digit heat day.
