Back in July, we were coming back from the wedding of our nephew and new niece. We made a detour on our way home. From the Chattanooga area, instead of getting on I-59 South, we stayed on I-24. We stopped in South Pittsburg, TN at the Lodge Cast Iron Museum and store. They are open 8am -6pm daily. There is a $10+tax admission charge for the interactive museum for everyone over age 5.
The museum has the World’s Largest Cast Iron skillet. As you can see it is quite large. It weighs in at 14,360 pounds, is 12 feet in diameter, 18 feet from handle to handle and 2.5 feet deep. It is big enough to fry 650 eggs!!!

You can see how cast iron cookware is made with some interactive exhibits. Lots of history about cast iron cookware.

It was only fitting on wedding weekend that we found the JONES skillet!!

They also have a retail store and a clearance section. They have cast iron cookware in the clearance. There are small blemishes that makes them unable to be sold retail but doesn’t affect the cooking surface.

They also have a Big Bad Breakfast restaurant on site. If you are in the area it is worth the detour!
