Saturday Jeff took me to a restaurant that he has been to a few times with the work group. It’s called Smokin’ Hot Sports Grill. It is somewhere in the Bessemer/McCalla area. Jeff said that it had been a run down house on the lot for a long time and they have put the restaurant in the spot. The food was really good and had a really good atmosphere.

I had a sweet tea marinated grilled chicken sandwich and sweet potato fries. The fries came with a very yummy blue cheese sauce. The sandwich came with pickles on it and with a side of a white barbecue sauce. They also had a “sauce bar” where you can try different sauces. I tried the peach, honey barbecue and apple butter. The sauces were more runny than sauces you get other places. The ones that I chose were all sweet sauces, but they were all good.

Jeff had the nacho tots from the appetizer menu. It was tater tots topped with a chili queso. The restaurant offers a wide variety of items on their menu. They have salads, brisket, barbecue, smoked chicken, ribs, hot dogs, chicken salad, Philly cheese steak, chicken fingers, burgers, veggie plates and various desserts just to name a few. Tuesday to Thursday they have daily lunch specials from 11:00-3:00. They are closed on Monday’s, so don’t try to visit on a Monday!

They have several televisions with various shows. There was sports and cartoons on. There were various signs all over the property inside and outside.

The owners were there bringing the food to the tables. They went table to table to be sure that everyone had what they needed and were enjoying the food. Jeff said that they have been in there every time that they have been. So they are involved in the day to day operations of their business.

I can’t wait to go again and try something different.
