Watermelon Festival

We stopped by the Watermelon Festival on July 19 at the Howard Family Holiday Farm in Moody, AL. There were several vendors set up. They had activities planned for the day and were having an ice cream eating contest at 2:00 but we just had a few minutes in our day to stop in. I’ve been trying to get by there for a couple of weeks, but not gotten home in time in the afternoons and have been out of town on the weekends.

There were several vendor booths and food trucks. We saw a couple of permanent jewelry booths, homemade cookies and treats, kids clothing and door hangers and such. They had play area for the kids out back.

Inside the store area they were making watermelon slushies and the ice cream was being scooped with lines at both.

In the farm stand their fruits and vegetables all looked delicious. While we were there for the Watermelon Festival and they had several varieties, I ended up bringing home a cantaloupe along with some farm fresh ground beef that I’m looking forward to having, a block of smoked cheddar cheese and a couple of tomatoes. They have a refrigerator and freezer area that they offer a variety of items like cheese, fresh shelled peas, sliced fruit, pies, beef, etc.

If you are in the area I recommend that you drop in and pick up some fresh fruits and vegetables this summer. Grab a scoop or two or three of ice cream. In the fall you can enjoy the pumpkin patch and this past Christmas they sold live trees. Always something to enjoy, stop on in.
