Couscous, like it? love it? hate it? tolerate it?

On our last grocery trip we were looking at the rice and decided to try couscous for something different. We picked up the Near East brand and chose the parmesan flavor. Tonight Jeff had to work late and I was thinking about what to have on the way home. I was thinking that I’d use the potatoes that we’ve had for awhile and either bake them or make homemade mashed potatoes before they went bad. I was to late, had to toss them. So when I started looking for something else I came across this box of couscous and thought I’d give it a try.

It has the texture of grits, the pieces are just bigger. I’m not sure about it. We’ll have to wait and see what Jeff thinks. I did like that it is really fast to cook. You just boil water, olive oil or butter and the seasoning packet. When it boiling you add the couscous, cover and remove from the heat and let sit for 5 minutes.

I had cooked some chicken in the crock pot this weekend, so I heated up some of it to have with it. My chicken wasn’t done heating before the couscous was ready.

What’s your thoughts on couscous? Do you love it, hate it or tolerate it? Do you have some go to recipes? If so please share them with me. I’d like to give it another shot before I cross it off the list. IMG_6235
