National Museum of Naval Aviation

While we were on the naval base in Pensacola we went across the street from the lighthouse to visit the National Museum of Naval Aviation. Going in we didn’t know what to expect. But it was a pretty awesome experience. The best part it was FREE! Make sure that you have your ID on you as they have to look at your ID and mark your hand. Jeff had to run back to the car to get mine when we got to the museum. You have to show your hand for admittance to each building.

There were planes there from all of the wars and they said that they were in order based on wars. There was a second building full of planes. We saw a plane that looked like one that the Wright Brothers invented, to planes that were so HUGE it made you wonder how they got off the ground. In the back rotunda area of the main museum there were 4 Blue Angel jets hanging from the ceiling. Throughout the museum there were parts from carrier ships on display and also models of them.

There was a trolley tour that you could take to another area that had more planes, but we were there around lunchtime and it took longer than we expected in the museums so we opted not to do the trolley this time. We’ll have to go back again and take the trolley tour.

If your ever in the area we highly recommend that you check it out. It is also well worth the 45 minute drive from Orange Beach. Enjoy some of the pictures from our visit.
