Pensacola Beach

We chose to take a quick trip to Pensacola Beach for Jeff’s birthday. This was our first time to stay on the island. We chose to stay at the Holiday Inn Resort. They have heated indoor and outdoor pools with a lazy river. When we arrived they put us on the street side of the hotel with a view of the Santa Rosa Sound. We asked for beach side but they said there wasn’t any available for how we booked the room. We would have much rather had a beach side room as we had been dreaming of sitting on the balcony and enjoying the view. But we made the best of the trip!

When we got up on Saturday morning there was the heaviest fog that we have ever experienced. We walked on the beach Saturday morning and by the time we got back to the room my hair was dripping water and our clothes were wet. It made for some pretty awesome pictures of the pier.

The fog didn’t start lifting until 3:00pm.

We ate breakfast at the same place both mornings. It was a local place called Native Cafe. The food and service was really good.

We did the obligatory stop-in at Alvin’s Island. We did eat some pretty good food. We ate at Peg Leg Pete’s and Red Fish Blue Fish.

For birthday dinner Jeff chose Italian. We found a restaurant called Lillo’s Tuscan Grill. It was in the Quality Inn in Gulf Breeze. The atmosphere inside the restaurant made you forget you just walked thru a hotel lobby. There was live music the entire time. We could hear them but not see them from our seat.

We started with an appetizer of fried raviolis. I had the spaghetti with homemade meatball. Jeff had spagasagna. What is spagasagna you ask? It is made like lasagna but with spaghetti noodles. The food was delicious. Since it was his birthday we opted for dessert. The hostess came by and she talked up the bread pudding and how good it was. Well we go to place our order and guess what…..it’s sold out. We were disappointed that we couldn’t try it. We decided to go with the Reese’s peanut butter cup cake. It was completely homemade and SO DELICIOUS!! Dinner was amazing and we were stuffed and went back to the room and crashed.

Overall we enjoyed the beach even if we weren’t fully happy with our accommodations.

Catch ya later Pensacola Beach.

Where will the next adventure take us??? Stay tuned!!
